Field of expertise: Design and Operation of Wind Energy Systems Short CV: Dr. Stylianos Vagropoulos received the Dipl.-Eng. Degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in July 2010 and his Ph.D. from the Power Systems Laboratory of the same university in July 2016. In 2020, he was elected Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Energy Systems (University of Thessaly, GR). Today, Stylianos is scientific director of multi-year research projects funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation (H.F.R.I.) and the industry. In the past he has participated as a core researcher in European and national research projects funded by the 7th Framework Program (European Commission), the Joint Research Centre (European Commission) and the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (Hellenic Ministry of Education Research and Religious Affairs). He has also won scholarships by the State Scholarship Foundation for doctoral and post-doctoral studies. Stylianos has worked as C.O.O. at Optimus Energy S.A, one of the biggest Greek energy companies, freelancer and technical consultant in energy companies in Greece and abroad. He has also worked as scientific personnel at the Hellenic Electricity Market Operator (LAGIE S.A.) and Hellenic Energy Exchange (HEnEx S.A.) with main duties the preparation of the framework for RES Stations participation in the Hellenic wholesale electricity market and the market coupling of Greece with the pan-European electricity market. He has also represented the Hellenic Nominated Electricity Market Operator in par-european technical working groups. Stylianos has also developed software applications for the industry based on machine learning approaches. Stylianos main research interests include design and operation of wind energy systems, sustainable integration of electric vehicles and energy storage in power systems and energy markets, RES forecasting, machine learning and optimization. His publication «Optimal bidding strategy for electric vehicle aggregators in electricity markets» in IEEE Trans. on Power Systems, 2013 has been distinguished by the “Web of Science” as highly cited paper and it is placed in the top 1% of the academic field of Engineering. Stylianos teaches the undergraduate courses wind energy, electrical installations, electrical installations II, battery technologies, technical and financial analysis of energy systems, heat transfer, special issues of electromechanical installations. Finally, Stylianos has published more than 25 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences (> 1350 citations). He finally serves as reviewer in top-quality scientific journals in the field of power systems.
